Tóm tắt: This paper describes the research findings of environmental adaptation of a lagoon village located in a flood-prone area, central Vietnam. The adapting actions by individuals and a community can be seen in the village. Heightening of housing foundation as well as application of multi-livelihoods are typical examples for against annual floods to which contribute to risk aversion based on long-term local experiences. However, the catastrophic flood in 1999 was an unexpected event with much damage. Since then community activities have been developing in order to raise the shared awareness for risk reduction in the village. The villagers are living with floods by their capacity of environmental adaptation.
