Abstract: In this study, Fe(OH)3/AER (AER-anion exchange resin) was synthesized as a novel and potential material for removal of phosphate in water environment. Characteristics of the material were determined by using FTIR and SEM. Results showed that Fe(OH)3/AER material was successfully synthesized and had high phosphate adsorption capacity (~ 115 mgPO4 3- per unit weight of impregnated FeCl3) with short adsorption equilibrium time of ~ 45 mins and optimum pH of 5. Furthermore, the Fe(OH)3/AER material also showed very good adsorption durability after at least 10 times of regeneration. This may be due to the strong interaction force between Fe(OH)3 nanoparticles and AER support.
